How do I get from Galeão airport (GIG) to Copacabana/Ipanema?

Most convenient: book and pay for a taxi inside the terminal, or take an Uber from its dedicated pick-up zone between Terminals 1 and 2 – just over half an hour to the South Zone outside rush hour. Budget option: the «Gentileza» express bus (R$ 15, every 20 minutes from 6 am to midnight, from the BRT station in front of Terminal 2) reaches Terminal Gentileza downtown in 25 minutes without traffic; continue by VLT and metro, about 1.5 hours in total. With lots of luggage or late at night, taxi/Uber is the better choice.
