How do I get from Santos Dumont airport (SDU) to my hotel?

Santos Dumont (SDU) is right next to downtown and mainly serves domestic flights. The quickest way to Copacabana/Ipanema is Uber or a taxi. Budget option: the VLT tram stop is just outside arrivals (turn left); ride two stops to Cinelândia (~7 minutes) and change to the metro – VLT R$ 5.00 with the Jaé card plus metro R$ 7.90. Avoid the metro between about 5 and 7:30 pm with luggage – it gets very crowded.
